William "Bill" Pritchard went to join his beloved wife, Edna, on Monday, May 7, 2007. He was born May 17, 1928, in Ottawa, Kan., but moved to Texas as quick as he could.
Bill was a resident of Flores-ville for a short time after moving from his Burnet/Cedar Park residence in 2004. He was a resident of the Frank Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home from January 2007 to the time of his passing. Although he lived there for a very short time, he made many friends and was loved by everyone who met him. His broad smile and his bright blue eyes always showed the happiness that he could not express in words.
He loved music — Bob Wills and Boxcar Willie were his favorites — and he also enjoyed food! His favorite meal was fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy.
Many of the residents and staff at the veterans home enjoyed his CDs of the old 1945 wartime songs and country western music that played on his radio constantly.
Bill was buried Wednesday, May 9, in Burnet's Post Mountain Cemetery, next to his wife who preceded him in death in 2000. James J Cantilli Sr. officiated the ceremony, with scripture readings by his great-nephew, James John Giblin. Bill was honored with the playing of taps and a flag-folding ceremony by fellow U.S. Army soldiers.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Cantilli and son-in-law James Cantilli; a granddaughter, Andrea Cantilli of Austin; grand
son Kyle Cantilli of Frisco; a great-granddaughter, Lily Cantilli of Frisco; as well as his sisters, Esther Lantis, Alice Valentine, and Ruth Eichman, and brothers James Pritchard and Philip Pritchard, all of Kansas.
