Brandon Lee Davis, 20, of Cumberland, killed in action on Wednesday, March 31, 2004, while serving with B Company, First Engineer Battalion, First Infantry Division, United States Army, during operations in the Province of Alanbar, Iraq.
He along with four other members of an engineer battalion based at Fort Riley, Kansas were killed when an improvised explosive device hit their armored personnel carrier.
The son of Jeffrey Alan Davis Sr., and Jackie Leigh Weatherholt.
Brandon studied carpentry and auto repair, and graduated from Fort Hill High School in 2001.
He left rural Allegany County last year for military life and in September headed to Iraq.
In the last letter he sent to his family, Brandon spoke of the new life he had found in the Army and the deep bond he felt with his comrades.
Brandon was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Stanley C. Davis; and a maternal grandfather, William E. Weatherholt.
