John A. Chester, 80, of Derwood died March 29, 2005, at his home.
Born July 18, 1924, in Massachusetts, he was the husband of the late Retha V. Chester.
Mr. Chester served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a motorcycle mechanic for the Montgomery County Police Department from 1957 until he retired in 1981. He was a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association and a member of the Springfield, Pa., Motorcycle Club. His hobby was restoring antique motorcycles.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Regina Boston, of Baltimore and Mary Jo MacDonald, of Winter Park, Fla.; three stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandsons.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park in Cumberland.
