The census of 1880 shows little Illena in Tuscaloosa, Alabamba, working in a cotton mill, along with her two sisters, Nancy and Mary. Illena never married.
She came to Texas with her parents after the Civil War, they settled in Bell County, then Leon and Houston Counties, Texas.
