Mary H. BERNARD


Mary Hinton Bernard Age 81, of Wilmington, DE, died late Tuesday afternoon, November 30, after a long illness.

Born Mary Rebecca Hinton on October 24, 1919 in Baltimore, MD, she spent her childhood in Petersburg, VA before working as a bank teller for State Planters Bank in Petersburg. In June of 1946, Mary married John Bernard Sr., also of Petersburg. John died in April of this year. They lived in Nashville, TN and Martinsville, VA before coming to Wilmington, DE in 1952.

Mary is survived by her sons, John Bernard Jr., William Bernard, Thomas Bernard, Richard Bernard, and by Martha Childers, her sister.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary Bernard may be made to Boys Home, Covington, VA 24426.

Services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Tuesday, December 7th at 2 p.m. in Petersburg. The service of interment will follow immediately at Blandford Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church in Greenville, DE. The date will be announced.
