Dale Monroe McDonald, 86, of Woodstock, Georgia, and formerly Ft. Myers, Florida passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012, in the V.A. Hospital in Decautur, Georgia.

Born in Fresno, California, October 20, 1925, he was the first child of Perley Albert McDonald & Edna Bartholomew McDonald. He attended San Leandro High School, in San Leandro, California where he lettered in Track, Football & Band before being drafted into the US Army on March 20, 1944 of his senior year of high school.

He served in the 89th Infantry Division as a Non-Commission Officer in the European Theater for 17 months. While deployed he was selected to represent the 354 Infantry Regiment in a six Division Army Track Meet in Nance, France, where he was a finalist in the medal round of the Triple Jump.

He worked in the construction and real estate industries in Morris County, New Jersey, and Ft. Myers, Florida. He was a member of the Florida Board of Realtors, and Riverside Baptist Church, Ft. Myers, Florida. He was an avid Stamp Philatelist, and most notably a Prospector of Precious Metals in Northern California, Colorado and Georgia. He could talk for hours about the ore and precious metal discoveries he made.

Dale was happily married to Gladys June Willis McDonald (of Malone, New York) for 52 years. He retired to Woodstock, Georgia after the death of his beloved wife and enjoyed spending time with his children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. He is survived by a loving family. Children: (son) Kevin E. McDonald, and his wife Beth of Woodstock, GA; (daughter) Trudence L. Hamilton, and her husband, Lawrence, of Roswell, GA. Grandchildren: Sarah Lanier, and her husband, Hal of Cumming, GA; Brian McDonald, and his wife, Juanie of Woodstock, GA; Kyle Hamilton, and his wife Ulyana of Hilton Head, SC; Barrett Hamilton of Roswell, GA, and Casey Hamilton of Roswell, GA. Great-grandchildren: Rylee, Daizy and Rundle.
