Services for Arthur M. Markham Jr. were held at 10:30 a.m. Thurs, May 28, in Kriegshauer West Funeral Home, 9450 Olive Rd. in Olivette. Mr. Markhan was buried in the Hiram Park Cemetery. He died at 7:50 a.m. Tues, May 26, 1981.
Mr. Markham was born Feb. 25, 1918, a son of Mary Muff Markham and the late Arthur M. Markham.
He was married to Betty Faires of Indianapolis. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Arthur Milton Markham III and John Markham of Columbia, Tenn; a daughter, Mrs. David (Linda) Baumstark of Boston, Mass; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Franke Markham of Louisiana and Mrs. Griff (Doris) Rule of Palmyra.
Known as "Junior" Mr. Markham was a member of Perseverance Lodge 92, AF&AM of Louisiana and of the Clayton Elks Club Lodge 1881, BPOE.Lodge 1881 Held Services for Mr. Markham at 8 p.m. Wed. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church at Creve Coeur.
Mr. Markham formerly worked at the bank of Louisiana and the Federal Reserve Bank of St.Louis. He was employed for more than 30 years by Monsanto Chemical Co. of St.Louis and retired three years ago.
After a stay in the hospital for tests and treatment, Mrs. Markham cared for him at their home, 11946 Rocky Rd, Creve Coeur, Mo, until his death. Their daughter, Linda, was with Mrs. Markham when her husband died. Attending the services from Louisiana were Lillie Ann Keith, Lucile Roberts, Mrs. Tommy Phillips, Mr.and Mrs. James Stuart, Mr.and Mrs. J.C. Roberts and Mrs. Donnell Patrick. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. George Holliday of Quincy, Ill, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Strack of Indianapolis, Indiana.
