CHILLICOTHE, IL - Ferne Grace Brownell, 85, of 1243 Second St. died at 10:07 a.m. Sunday, April 13, 1997, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Born July 18, 1911, in Kilbourne, IL to Lotus and Lora Robinson Hawks, she married Virgil D. Miller in 1932. He preceded her in death. She later married Orville S. Brownell on Sept. 12, 1959, in Peoria. He died Feb. 17, 1988.
She also was preceded in death by one sister and one stepdaughter.
Surviving are one son, Stuart W. Miller of Anahuac, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Karen Miller) Hamm of Chillicothe; one stepdaughter, Linda DeBoer of Spring Bay; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, James Hawks of Havana; and one sister, Elizabeth Huber of Latham.
She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Mossville.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Chillicothe City Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Clark will officiate. There will be no visitation. Weber Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Rescue 33 or her church.
