Aubrey "Cowboy" Owen Napier, 82, of Route 1, Faber, died Wednesday at his residence. He was born on June 20, 1902, in Nelson Co., a son of James Osborne and Missouri Hortense (Truslow) Napier.

He retired July 1, 1967, as an acetate spinning operator after 23 years of service with the Waynesboro Du Pont Co. plant.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mabel T. Napier; one son, Roger Owen Napier of Stuarts Draft; one daughter, Mrs. Bobby (Linda) Mawyer of Waynesboro; three sisters, Mrs. James (Maude) Fixx of Arlington, Mrs. Paul (Lucy) Poole of Vienna and Miss Sydney Napier of San Luis Obispo, Calif. Also surviving are two brothers, Harry T. Napier of Crozet and LaDishus Napier of Graham, N.C.; four grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Garth Fields, Luther McGann, Gordon Hughes, Elwood Small, Jack Truslow and John Nelson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lee and Rusty Thompson, Chester Fitzgerald Jr., Wilbur Ross, Gus Bailey, James Daughtry, Dr. William Toomy, Herbert Moyer and friends attending the service.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Beech Grove Christian Church by the Revs. Linda Parker, J.D. Farries and John Mallory, with burial in Rockfish Valley Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends at the residence.
