SHE DIES SUNDAY AFTER OPERATION: Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Chubbs was Former Resident of City - The Funeral Here

Mary Elizabeth Chubbs, about 51, a former resident of Leavenworth, died at Denver, Colo., Sunday (Sept 8th) morning following an operation. She had been in the hospital at Denver for one week. She had been ill for the past month. Mrs. Chubbs was the wife of S. Sgt. James Chubbs. For the last nine months, Sgt. and Mrs. Chubbs were stationed at Fort Riley. For eight years prior to that time they were at Fort Omaha, Neb.

Mrs. Chubbs was born at Fort Leavenworth, a daughter of James and Mary (Gilman) Reynolds. On December 7, 1933, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, she was married to Sgt. Chubbs. She is survived by the husband of Fort Riley;' two sisters, Mrs. John Durler of Larned, Kas; Mrs. Walter Gronis, 516 Osage Street; one brother, John Reynolds, 321 Ottawa Street. Mrs. Chubbs was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

The body will be received Tuesday morning by the O'Donnell Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (Sept 11th) morning at 9 o'clock at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the Very Rev. William T.J. Boland, rector, officiating. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Fort Leavenworth. Members of the Daughters of Isabella will attend funeral services in a group. A rosary service by the Daughters of Isabella will be held Tuesday night at 7:30, and friends will assemble at 8 PM Tuesday for recitation of the Rosary. The body will remain at the funeral chapel until the hour of services.
