On March 15, 1936 Rich married Gladys Harriet Olson. They had two children, Marlene (Gary) Brown-Nelson of Shawano, WI and Richard Donovane (Find A Grave 130383444 Fort Howard Memorial Park, Green Bay, WI)(Joanne Johnson) Peterson of Shawano, WI. Rich enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years. When he got older he coached baseball teams. He was inducted into the Shawano Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985.
