AUSTIN -- The funeral for Hilda Johnson will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, with the Rev. Harold L. Usgaard officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
Mrs. Johnson, 93, of 1401 Fourth St. S.W., a longtime Austin homemaker, died Tuesday night (Nov. 21, 1995) at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin.
Hilda Christenson was born Dec. 5, 1901, in Milan, Minn. She graduated from Milan High School, and after graduating from St. Cloud Teachers College taught first grade in Sacred Heart, Minn. On July 21, 1924, she married Joseph A. Johnson in Hopkins, Minn., and they lived in Hopkins, Sacred Heart and Franklin, Minn., before moving to Austin in 1936. Her husband died in 1977. Mrs. Johnson was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the WELCA and church circle, Women's Relief Corps and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting and other hand work.
Survivors include a daughter, Audrey McNee of Austin; two sons, Carlon J. of Bowie, Md., and Roger K. of Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
