IN MEMORIUM - THOMAS WILLIAM EDWARDS
Thomas William Edwards was born March 25th, 1852, in Merriwether county, Georgia. He moved to Dallas county, Texas in 1879. In December, 1881, he was married to Miss Sarah Noah, to which union were born four sons; the oldest dying in infancy.
About sixteen years ago Mr. Edwards and family moved to Swisher county, and has always held a high place and loyal esteem in the estimation of the citizens of Swisher county.
Thirty-five years ago Mr. Edwards was converted and joined the Methodist church; and has ever since lived a consecrated, loyal and upright member therein.
He departed this life Friday, May 3rd, at 9:30 o'clock, at his home about seven miles east of town. Thus he was 66 years, one month and eight days old at the time of his death.
Funeral services conducted Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in Tulia, by Rev. G. S. Wyatt, assisted by the friend and former pastor of the deceased, Rev. A. W. Waddill, of Snyder.
Afterward, a concourse of (words missing) followed the remains to the cemetery, where it was tenderly laid to rest and beautiful flowers, emblems of love, honor and esteem banked about the beloved mound.
Words fail us in expressing our regard for this dear departed husband, father and friend. Truly did he bring up his children "in the nurture and admonition of the Lord," and how blessed are the thoughts of the happy home over which he presided. Not a seeker was turned away from his doors, whether of mental and spiritual food, or temporal blessings for the body. His noble life in the body
does go on before him and is now an ever present help and an inspiration to his wife and three sons and their wives and children. Most surely did he fulfill his mission, and his gentle spirit heard the call of the Master and is now gone up higher and is with Jesus. Blessed indeed are those who live in the Lord and die in the Lord. Surely his smile and enduring words are missed; but his loved ones
and friends are ennobled by his life and shall meet him in that home, not made with hands, eternal in the Heavens.
To the sorrowing ones most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolence is extended. Look to Jesus the author and finisher; and who alone can give you the real comfort.
