Sandra K. Conley-Bowen, of Indianapolis died suddenly at Camp Atterbury, Edinburg, IN. She worked nearly one year at John M. Glass, a foundry distributor. She worked 26 years for the Indiana Attorney General's Office, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Indiana National Guard and the 38th Infantry Division Association. She was the first woman in Indiana history to acheive the rank of Sergeant Major. Sandy was a 1966 Frankfort High School graduate, but attended Crawfordsville schools through her junior year.
She was a Mary Kay beauty consultant, and a member of the Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, Indianapolis.
Survivors include her husband, William F. Bowen, Jr., Indianapolis, her parents, Helen and Richard Byrd, Frankfort, sister, Kathy Henson, California, and brother, Greg of Lafayette.
Her funeral was held at the Feeney Hornak Mortuary, Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis on Wednesday, April 29. 1998
Sandy was one of my oldest and best friends and I loved her dearly.
