Funeral services for W.E. DeWitt, 85, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at the Wesley United Methodist Church. Rev. Dick Atkinson will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. He died Tuesday morning in a Greenville hospital.

The son of Fletcher and Amanda Jane Rice DeWitt, he was born on Dec. 24, 1894 in Bonham. He married the former Billie Brookshire on March 4, 1920. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a retired employee of Stephenson Shoe Store. He was a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge, Wesley United Methodist Church and its board.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Rose Covaleski; three sisters, Mrs. Ralph Pearce of Paris, Mrs. Raleigh Bryant of Pattonville and Miss Edith DeWitt of Detroit, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dwight Rhoades, Allen Stephenson, Murrie Rogers, Ray Hamilton, Ray Hollerand and Olin McWhirter. Honorary pallbearers will be member of the Williams Bible Class of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sorrells and Sons Funeral Home.
