Isaac Bethurum, Corp.
Born in Crab Orchard, Lincoln county, Kentucky, on July 26, 1838 the son of William and Alidia (Herren)Bethurum.
d. September 22, 1919, Newport, Pend Oreille, Washington at age 81
On April 24, 1861, Age 25, he enlisted in the Tenth Illinois, Company H, and immediately went to the front. He participated in the battle at Fort Donelson, as well
as in others, and also did much scout duty and work as a spy, which was very dangerous. He served all through the war, and on October 19, 1865, was mustered out at Leavenworth Kansas.

In February, 1866, Mr. Bethurum married Miss Catherine Lawson, a native of Tennessee, and one child was born to them, John W., now in Spokane county. Mrs. Bethurum died in 1875. The next year Mr. Bethurum married Miss Margret E. Lawson, a sister of his former wife and to this union there have been born three children, Ralph, Josephine and Harry. Mr. Bethurum is a strong and ardent Republican and has always manifested a keen interest in the welfare of the party and the interests of the community. He is a member of the G.A.R. and his wife, with himself, belongs to the methodist church.
