SPANISH AMERICAN AND WORLD WAR I VETERAN
George W. Crowell was born June 21, 1869 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the son of William B. and Phoebe (Hoel) Crowell. His father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother was born in Mount Pleasant, Ohio.
Prin. Musc., 1st Montana Infantry, S.A.W.; Assistant Band Leader, Headquarters Company, 163rd Infantry, WW1. Pension awarded on Certificate No. 1529471.
Mr. Crowell was admitted to the Washington Veterans' Home on October 29, 1930. He was then a resident of Grays Harbor, Washington. His usual occupation was Clerk. He was a widower and had been married and divorced twice previously. He had three children in 1930: William "Billy", 8 years old, living in Aberdeen, Washington; Betty Jane, 6 years old, living with her mother at Yakutat, Alaska; and Mrs. Fred Rogers, 27 years old, living in Portland, Oregon.
Mr. Crowell listed personal property consisting of musical instruments valued at $300.
Mr. Crowell passed away at 7:15 A.M. on February 12, 1950, age 80, at the Washington Veterans' Home.
