SPANISH AMERICAN WAR VETERAN
Ernest E. Enlow was the son of John R. and Mary Elizabeth (Waller) Enlow. He was born April 14, 1873 in Parsons, Kansas. On his World War I Draft Registration card, he listed his brother, Dolph Enlow of Kansas City, Kansas as his next of kin. He was 45 years at that time and living in Seattle, Washington.
Enlisted September 28, 1899 at Kansas City, Nebraska. Served in Company "G", 40th U. S. Infantry. He was discharged as a Private on June 24, 1901 at San Francisco.
Mr. Enlow requested admission to the Washington Veterans Home in April 1924 and July 1927. He was then 53 years old, 5'6-1/2" tall, had a medium complexion, and was a resident of King County. He had lived continuously in the State of Washington since 1916. He was by occupation a laborer and had been previously married in June 1903 in Kansas, with that marriage ending in divorce. He did not remarry or have any children. He was receiving a penison of $20.00 a month.
Mr. Enlow was admitted to the Veterans' Home on July 15, 1927. He died July 13, 1932 aged 59 years at Retsil and was buried in the Veterans Home Cemetery on July 15th.
