DODGE CENTER -- The funeral Mass for Ismael "Nick" Bugarin will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Kasson; the Rev. Kurt Farrell will officiate. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery.

Nick, 12, died Saturday (Nov. 8, 2008) in Dodge Center. His mother, Teresa Bugarin, also died Saturday.

Ismael Nicolas Bugarin was born May 5, 1996, in Marshall, Minn. He had lived in Dodge Center for the past nine years, and attended West Concord Middle School. He loved biking, soccer, skateboarding, and especially hanging out with his friends and family.

Nick has been credited with saving the lives of his two sisters, while sacrificing his own.

He is survived by his father, Ismael Bugarin; and his sisters, Jasmine Evy Bugarin and Sabrina Esme Bugarin; and his maternal grandmother, Maria Bertha Barajas of Elsa, Texas. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and paternal grandparents.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

DODGE CENTER, Minn. (AP) - Today, Dodge County District Court Judge Lawrence Agerter signed a complaint-warrant charging Ismael Bugarin [Father] with two counts of Murder in the Second Degree and two counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree. Service of this warrant will probably occur tomorrow.

Bugarin's daughters, 8-year-old Jasmine and 5-year-old Sabrina Bugarin, suffered knife wounds in the incident Saturday night. They're in good condition at St. Marys.

Killed were 12-year-old Ismael Nicholas Bugarin, known as Nick, and 27-year-old Teresa Bugarin.

Nick was a seventh-grader at Triton Middle School, where students have created a memorial wall with notes and letters saying how much he will be missed. Superintendent Robert Kelly says he expects the tribute will be left up for some time.
