Funeral services for Larry Leonard Bartachek, 59, of Chelsea, were Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Interment was in Rector Cemetery, Chelsea. Mr. Bartachek died May 4, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness. Pallbearers were Phillip Stewart, Todd Sauerbrei, Kyle Bartachek, Steve Formanek, Rob Formanek and Dave Upah.
Larry Leonard Bartachek was born July 6, 1949, at Belle Plaine, the son of William and Esther Trasak Bartachek Auld. He received his education through the 11th grade. He married Janice Bennett on October 6, 1967, at Christ United Methodist Church in Belle Plaine. She preceded him in death on March 10, 1995. He was employed at Amana Refrigeration. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.
He is survived by his children, Teresa (Todd) Sauerbrei of Marengo and Amy (Phillip) Stewart of Belle Plaine; brothers and sisters, Don and Ann Bartachek, David and Julia Bartachek, Bill and Bev Bartachek, Dorothy and Lanny Nowotny, Darlene and Max Leonard, Mary Ann and Scott Weekly, and Jean and Fran Behounek; and four grandchildren, Mackensie and Megan Sauerbrei and Carley and Bennett Stewart. He was preceded in death by his father, William Bartachek. Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine was in charge of arrangements.
