After her parents died at very young ages, she was adopted by the Henry Wedge family, her father's employer before he died. She received her teachering certificate when she finished 8th grade.

Blanche was named after two of her mother's good friends.

She married Daniel Sheehan in 1904 in Lake Villa, Lake Co., IL. They had 10 children together: Francis "Frank" who died as an infant, Mary Arline "Arline", William Howard "Howard", Estelle Miriam "Stella", John Robert "Robert, Bob", Margaret Hazel "Hazel", Daniel Elmer "Elmer", Joseph Michael, Warren Bernard "Doc", and Emmet Charles "Bud".

"Miss Blanche Tidmarsh is the happy possessor of a new phone."
