"Sarah Watkins dies at 86 ...Erie woman lived to a ripe old age and died Thursday... Mrs. Sarah A. P. Watkins was born in Morgan County, Illinois on August 15, 1838, and departed this life on June 4, 1925, age eighty-six years, nine months and twenty days. On April 27, 1856, she was united in marriage to John W. Watkins. To this union, five children were born, two boys and three girls. In 1868, she moved with her family to Crawford County, Kansas. In the year 1889, she moved to Neosho County, Kansas where she had since resided. Mrs. Watkins, with her husband, united with the Christian Church at Cato, Kansas. In the year 1872, and remained firm in the faith until the end. Besides her one son, Thomas W. Watkins of Cato, Kansas, and two daughters, Lydia E. Hughett of Jackson, Illinois, Belle Kennedy of the home address. She leaves to mourn her loss, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and a host of friends. Short furnerl services will be held this afternoon at two O'clock at the home and burial will be made a Farlington."
