.OBIT: Funeral is held for Dorothy DeBlauw -- Dorothy DeBlauw, 90, Columbus, formerly of Crofton, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Beverly Health Care, Columbus. Services were Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Constance, with Rev. Bob English officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Crofton. Pallbearers were Dr. Stanley Jones, Mike Hejak-Jones, Edwin Jones, Alan DeBlauw, Paul DeBlauw, Jason DeBlauw and Daniel Noonan. Dorothy was born on May 28,1910, at New York City, NY, to William and Minnie (Christopher) Wilson. She came to Nebraska on the Orphan Train where Theodore and Anna (Thunker) Ausdemore chose her on Sept. 28, 1912 and then raised her. She attended country school and has lived in the Crofton area since 1912. She married Martin DeBlauw on April 29, 1930 at Constance. She and Martin farmed south of Crofton until 1982. She also worked at Gurney's in Yankton. She moved into Crofton in 1982. She has been a resident of Beverly Health Care in Columbus since 1995. Dorothy was very active in the Crofton Senior Citizen Center and played in the Senior Citizen Kitchen Band. In 1987 she was Crofton's chairperson for the American Cancer Society Drive. She spoke to many organizations about her experiences on the Orphan Train. She enjoyed baking, sewing and crocheting for her family,friends and church. In addition to raising five children, she also raised a grandson Ed Jones. Her husband died July 28, 1997. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Constance, the Ladies Guild and the Christian Mothers. She is survived by two daughters, Alice Marie (Joe) Noonan, Columbus; Mary Ellen Cayler, Crofton; two sons, Dennis (Margaret) DeBlauw, Hartington; Roger (Nancy) DeBlauw, Crofton; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Irene Ausdemore, Crofton; Cathryn DeBlauw, Yankton; Irene DeBlauw, Hartington; and one brother-in-law, Joseph and Adelaide DeBlauw, Crofton. Preceding her in death were her husband Martin, one daughter Doris Ann Jones, one grand-daughter Barabara Jean Jones, her parents, four brothers, Theodore Jr, Joseph, Bernard and William Ausdemore, four sisters, Minnie Filips, Anna Ausdemore, Rose Ausdemore and Helen Drago.
