Actor, Musician. Real Name John Faircloth. A native of Dallas, Texas, he was a popular rockabilly singer throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He is best known for his 1960 recording, "Mission Bells", which landed on the US Top 10 Chart. His other releases include the Top 40 hit "Doll House", "Bertha Lou", and "Lil Sweetheart". Brooks also appeared in films, including "Get Yourself A College Girl" (1964), "A Swingin' Summer" (1965), and "The Love-Ins" (1967). In 1971 he appeared as Jesus Christ in the classic Rock Opera "Truth Of Truths", in which he sang the notable songs, "He's The Light of The World", and "I Am What I Say I Am." He continued to sing throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and into the 2000s, but mainly at oldies revues. He is a member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. (bio by: K)
