| Birth: | Oct. 2, 1982 Massachusetts, USA | | Death: | Nov. 20, 2008 Marstons Mills Barnstable County Massachusetts, USA | Glenna Oline Kohl passed from this life peacefully in her home in Marstons Mills, on Thursday, November 20, 2008. She was surrounded by her father, mother, brother, Jacob, loving cousins, Adam and Alex, her dear, Aunt Jeanne, and close friends, Lindsey and Logan.
Glenna was born on October 2, 1982, and lived in her home in Marstons Mills her whole life.
She graduated from Barnstable High School in 2001, where she was an excellent student and was active in crew, cross-country, theater, and key club.
Glenna had more friends than one could count and was loved by everyone who met her. For five summers, she worked for the Town of Barnstable as a lifeguard, and was honored as Lifeguard of the Year in 2005.
She played the piano from the time she was 6 years old and enjoyed it right up until she could no longer play. Glenna loved to ice skate and took lessons with her friends for many years.
Glenna was a huge Red Sox fan and attended several games with her loving friend, Courtney.
She graduated from Salve Regina in Newport in 2005, with a degree in business finance, but had become passionate about health and nutrition and was considering changing her focus. It was at that time that she was diagnosed with Melanoma.
Glenna began her long uphill battle fighting every step of the way, never letting her fear or anger get in the way of her battle. She spoke to groups to bring awareness of the dangers of this disease and how it can be prevented. She even spoke at the State House in Boston to try to pass a law to ban access of tanning booths to children under the age of 18. Glenna remained strong and determined throughout this time. She is a role model for all who experienced her life.
She is the beautiful and loving daughter of Robert and Colleen (Emerson) Kohl; and sister of Jacob Kohl. She also leaves two aunts, Jeanne and Cathie; two uncles, Bob and Dave; and seven cousins, Mike, Adam, Alex, Chris, Jennifer, Christine and Andrew, and, of course, her loving dog, Marilyn. She also leaves her special family in Santa Fe, NM, Aunt Sarah, Donna, Judy, Linda, Jamie, Cara, Mia. And finally, her special Auntie Steph in California.
