James "Jim" Ravnel died April 17 at the Indianapolis City Hospital and was buried at New Crown Cemetery, Indianapolis, it became known this past week. Jim Ravnel lived in Plainfield for many years having come from North Carolina about 21 years ago. He was born near Ashville, North Carolina about the year 1859. In October 1938, Jim left Plainfield for Indianapolis where he roomed and when stricken with illness was being kept by the Hendricks County Welfare Department. He was buried by the Welfare Department. He was not known to have any relatives.
His cemetery record reads:
James Ravnol: Age 80yrs.

Gravesite Details
His obituary added after his name that he was colored. The year of his birth was hard to read and may not be correct. Cemetery records show his surname as Ravnol instead of Ravnel.
