Elizabeth was the youngest daughter of Thomas Campbell and Elizabeth Davis. Her parents had emigrated to Utah from Scotland. She and her sister Mary Ann were reputed to have very pretty voices and were often asked to sing at parties, in church, and special occasions. She took care of her mother, who went blind, until her mother passed away.

She married Charles John Wahlquist.

After her husband's death in Myton, Elizabeth and her daughter, Mabel, moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. They later moved to Ogden and lived sometimes on their own and sometimes with one of Elizabeth's sons and his family. They were living with Keith and his family when Elizabeth had a stroke and died.
