(bio by Jen Snoots) Capt. Groves was wounded in the face at the Battle of Monocacy in Maryland, July 9, 1864, losing his left eye as a result. He was captured and died soon after. NOTE the the mistakes on the stone.

Roll to Aug. 31, 1864, Died of wounds recd. at Battle of Monocacy, Md., July 9, 1864. Born Louisiana, occupation farmer, Res.
