Allen Hathaway, 95, died Friday, Jan. 31 in Show Low.
He was born in Greenville, Ohio Feb. 10, 1907. He married Theda Jane Gibbons April 4, 1931. They lived in Dayton, Ohio where Allen worked for the Dayton Tire and Rubber Company until they moved to Palm Springs, California in 1943, where they made their home for the next 54 years, then moving to Show Low in 2000. Allen worked as a union lather until he retired at the age of 73. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, fishing, gardening or just listening or watching baseball.
Allen was preceded in death by his only daughter, Barbara Jane Thomas and granddaughter, Shelly Ann Hathaway.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years Theda. His loving and devoted sons, Fred (Marlene), Bill (Sherry), and one brother Ray Hathaway of Ashville, North Carolina; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and will be missed greatly.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. at the White Mountain United Methodist Church in Show Low. In lieu of flowers send contributions to the American Heart Association.
