"Tiny" Haines

ELDON--Lavetis L. "Tiny" Haines, 75, died the morning of May 18 in Ottumwa Hospital.

She was born Feb. 17, 1907, in New Weston, Ohio, to John E. and Edna M. Thompson Gibbons. She had lived in Eldon the past 46 years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary. She married Homer Haines Sept. 22, 1928, in Palestine, Ohio. He died Nov. 20, 1981.

Survivors: a daughter, Mabel Glasgow of Scotsdale, Ariz.; two grandchildren; sisters Mrs. Allen Hathaway of Palm Springs, Calif., Mrs. Ken Rogers of Calwell, Idaho, Mildred Fearson of Greenville, Ohio, and Ada Mae McMichael of Greenville, Ohio; and brothers James Gibbons of Greenville, Ohio, and Lester Gibbons of West Carrolton, Ohio.

Service: 1 p.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Home, the Rev. David Albert officiating. Buriel: Eldon Cemetery.

Memorial: Cancer Fund.

Visitation: 7 to 8:30 pm., Thursday.

Lavetis "Tiny" Haines

Lavetis (Gibbons) Haines, 75, former resident of Greenville and lately of Eldon, Iowa, died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, at the Ottuma Hospital, Ottumwa, Iowa, after a short illness.

Mrs. Haines was born Feb. 17, 1907 in Allen Township, Darke County, the daughter of Edna Mabel Thompson and John Ernest Gibbons. In addition to her parents and a sister, Marvel, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer, who died in November 1981.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John (Mabel) Glasgow; two grandsons; brothers, James Ancil Gibbons, Greenville, and Lester Gibbons, West Carrollton, and sisters, Mrs. Allen (Theda) Hathaway, Palm Springs, Calif., Louella Rogers, Calwell, Idaho, Mildred Pearson and Ada Mae McMichael, both of Greenville.

The funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, at the Campbell Funeral Home in Eldon. Burial will follow in Eldon cemetery.

Calling hours are set for 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the cancer fund.
