WAR VETERAN DEAD.
J. W. Bennett of Eatontown Passed Away Last Tuesday.
Jonathan W. Bennett of Eatontown, a veteran of the civil war, died on Tuesday afternoon of last week, from a complication of diseases. Mr. Bennett had been failing several weeks, but had been seriously sick only a few days. He was born seventy years ago near Wayside. At the outbreak of the civil war he enlisted in the Fourteenth New Jersey regiment and he served in the army during the entire conflict. After the war he engaged in the painting business at Eatontown, where he had since lived. He leaves a wife and daughter, Mrs. Edmund Wolcott of Eatontown. He leaves two brothers and two sisters. They are J. P. L. Bennet of Eatontown, J. Milton Bennett of Long Branch, and Mrs. Mary Cook and Mrs. Samuel W. Ferry of Oceanport.
