William H. Hetrick
Funeral Services for William Henry Hetrick, formerly of Sioux Falls but recently of Sioux City, were held at the Miller Funeral home at 3:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment was made in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
William Henry Harrison Hetrick, son of Nicholas and Isabelle Hetrick, was born at Millerstown, Perry county, Pennsylvania, on December 24, 1849. He went to Scott county, Iowa, when about a year old, his family moving later to Mills county, Iowa. Here he was united in marriage to Miss Susan Jane Martin in the fall of 1880, who preceded him in death on September 30, 1913. He finally came to South Dakota about 20 years ago.
The deceased taught in the schools of Iowa for 22 years, but after moving to South Dakota was employed at other work. Some years were spent in the employ of John Morrell, old age compelling him to retire.
For several years Mr. Hetrick made his home with his children, having been with his daughter in Sioux City for the past three years, where he died on Friday, April 11, at 11:12 a.m.
First funeral services were held at Sioux City, at the Samuel Funeral home,on Saturday, at 4 o'clock, the Rev. Keck of that city officaiting.
Surviving are two brothers. Dr. George W. Hogle and Herbert H. Hogle, both of Mount Vernon, Ia.; Six daughters, Mrs. Peter Jacobsen, Mrs. Frank White, Mrs. George E. Eggleston, of Sioux City; Mrs. Guy Mercer of Hooker, Okla.; Mrs. William Johnson, Mrs. Bert Miller of Sioux Falls; and three sons, Abner, George and Herbert Hetrick, all of Sioux Falls. Also surviving him are 38 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
