Ruth Underwood, 91, a homemaker, passed away Monday, March 19, 2007, at a Fort Worth care center.
Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
Mrs. Underwood had been a longtime resident of Fort Worth. She was the daughter of J E Goldsmith. She married Elvie Clyde Underwood about 1928 in Hopkins Co, Texas and shortly after moved to Tarrant Co, Texas.
She was a homemaker and mother of five and worked at Hill's Grocery Store, George's Pharmacy, owned and operated a beauty shop, and in her retirement worked at Old South Pancake House. She was a charter member of Northwest Baptist Church, where she was very active, and a Sunday school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Underwood; and children, Elvie Alene Underwood Bryant and Charlie Clyde Underwood.
Survivors: Son, Albert Fred Underwood of Newark; daughters, Carolyn Ruth Underwood Bartee of Moran, Ellen Kay Underwood Fennell of Fort Worth; sister, Beulah Ellen Moore of Sulphur Springs; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
