MARINE DIES IN VIET NAM ENEMY ACTION
Top Harper High Grad for 1967
Deceased Name: Marine Corp. Kenneth E. Perry
Marine Corp. Kenneth E. Perry, 21, one of the city's top 1967 mid-year high school graduates, was killed in combat in Viet Nam.
Perry, who lived at 7116 S. Paulina av., was an infantryman with the 26th marine regiment, 1st battalion, when killed last Saturday while leading a group of
marines south of Da Nang.
Named Harper Star
The marine was named star Harper High school graduate, one of the top 10 in the city, when he was graduated in January, 1967. He attended the Amundsen campus of
Chicago City college, 5110 N. Damen av., until October of that year before enlisting for three years.
His father, Joseph, said that young Perry had been awarded three Purple Hearts, a bronze star, and silver star during his two tours in Viet Nam.
His son won the bronze star for rescuing fellow infantryman by helping them board a copter which was under fire. The silver star was awarded for holding off
the Viet Cong for four hours, he said.

He also is survived by his mother, Louise; two brothers, Joseph Jr. and red; two
sisters, Judy and Merilou.
