Romeo served as a Motor Machinist's Mate, Second Class, U.S.S. Tautog (SS-199), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Burlington, Chittenden County, Vermont prior to the war.

Romeo died in the "Line Of Duty" while working on the deck when a giant wave knocked him off his feet and swept him into the water. He was the Tautog's only loss during the war.

Romeo was awarded the Navy-Marine Corps Medal.
