Joseph Harlen Lyons is the only one of grandparents that I ever met. The others died before I was born. He lived with my family in Texarkana, AR for perhaps several months in the early 1950s. I remember him drinking Coca Cola with BC powder for some ailment.

JOSEPH LYONS DIES SUNDAY

Joseph Harlen Lyons, 70, Hooks, Tex., died 6 a. m. Sunday at Saint Michael's hospital, Texarkana.

Born in Washington County, Ark., December 24, 1882, he resided at Broken Bow from 1910 until about four months ago when he moved to Hooks. He was a retired farmer, and a member of the Assembly of God church and a Mason.

He is survived by two sons, Noel D. Lyons, DeKalb, Tex., and Truman Lyons, El Paso, Tex.; eight daughters, Mrs. Robert George, Kelso, Wash.; Mrs. G. H. Pool, Texarkana; Mrs. W. P. Moore, Myrtle Creek, Ore.; Mrs. R. W. Hill, Goodwater; Mrs. G. D. Reid, Hooks; Mrs. A. L. Maschek, Pagosa Springs, Colo.; Mrs. J. D. Salie, Bakersfield, Calif.; and Mrs. Roy Slabaugh, Wellington, Kan.; one brother, Sherman Lyons, Winslow, Ark.; 35 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Broken Bow Assembly of God church with Rev. Webb officiating.

Arrangements and burial in Broken Bow cemetery were under direction of Wilson funeral home.

Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Joseph Harlen Lyons

Services of Joseph Harlen Lyons, 70. pioneer Broken Bow man who died Sunday in Texarkana, Ark., were at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the Assembly of God church.

Lyons, a native of Washington County, Ark., had lived in Broken Bow since 1910. He moved to Hooks, Texas, four months ago. Burial was in the Broken Bow Cemetery, with graveside rites by the Masonic lodge.

Surviving are two sons, Noel A. Lyons of DeKalb, Tex., and Truman of El Paso; eight daughters, Mrs. Robert George, Kelso, Wash., Mrs. G. H. Pool, Texarkana, Mrs. W. P. Moore, Myrtle Creek, Ore., Mrs. G. D. Reid, Hooks, Texas, Mrs. R. W. Hill, Goodwater, Okla., Mrs. A. L. Maschek, Pagosa Springs, Colo., Mrs. J. D. Salie, Bakersfield, Calif., and Mrs. Ray Slabaugh, Wellington; a brother, Sherman Lyons of Winslow, Arkansas; 35 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
