Robert of Farmington, formerly of Jay, passed on at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
He was borm in Starks, the son of Earl J. and Flora (Thompson) Moore. He received his education in Farmington schools and on March 6, 1945 married Jean F. Collins in West Farmington. His beloved wife predeceased him on Sept. 7, 2004.
He was a brick maker in West Farmington and a self-employed woodsman. He retired from SAD 9, where he was a custodian at Mount Blue High School for many years. He and his wife later co-owned B & J Shoe Store in Jay.
He was a leather craftsman and designed and manufactured belts, shoes and slippers. He was also very musical and enjoyed singing. He always had a song to share and did so on many occasions, particularly in the last two years at the nursing home, where he often would sit with pray and sing to those in need. He understood that sharing his faith about the Lord was part of his mission.
He is survived by one son, Donald Moore and his wife, Gisselle, of the Dominican Republic; three daughters, Carolyn Boyker and her husband, Bruce, of Farmington, Florice Collins and her husband, Mike, of Livermore and Jeannine Backus and her husband, John, of East Wilton; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two children, Helen Stanley and Ronald Collins; siblings, Owen Moore, Gertrude Lovell and Mary Kilbreth; and grandchildren, Kathy Lewis and Kenneth "Kenny" Stanley
Those who desire, may give gifts in his memory to the Franklin Cty. Children's Task Force, 12 Church St., Farmington. After cremation at Gracelawn Memorial Park, Auburn, private family committal services will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Farmington. On-line condolences may be sent to email@example.com.
