Clyde of Otisfield, died unexpectedly at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Norway, Maine the eldest son of Clyde McKay Sr. and Ida (Paquette) McKay.
He was a World War II veteran who proudly served our country from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of Company C, 103rd Infantry, 43rd Division of the U.S. Army from Norway. He saw action in the South Pacific from Oct. 1942 through July 1945, in such places as Guadal Canal, New Guinea, Solomon Islands and the Philippines.
He was employed at Wilner Wood Heel, SnoCraft, and retired from Pioneer Plastics in 1988. He enjoyed hunting, golf and cooking for family and friends.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9787 of South Paris, where he regularly prepared meals for public suppers. He found great joy in spending time with his four grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Crystal; three sons, David and his fiancée, Lynda Frechette, of Otisfield, Mark and his wife, JoAnna, of Otisfield, and Kevin and his wife, Terry, of Windham; grandsons, Ryan and Chad, of Merritt Island, Fla.; and granddaughters, Allison and Talia, of Windham. He is also survived by two sisters, Geraldine Springfield, of Derry, N.H., and Arlene Hobbs of Oxford; and three brothers, Chesley, of Brea, Calif., Roy, of South Paris, and Fred, of Lewiston.
He was predeceased by a sister, Carla Whittemore.
