Robert was born the eldest son of Arthur and Gertrude (Everett) Coffin Sr. Robert passed on from complications of diabetes.
Robert was educated in Woodstock schools. He married Natalie (Frechette) Coffin on Dec. 18, 1948.
He had worked at Oxford Paper, Whitman Oil Co. of Norway and Benson Oil of West Paris, and later was road commissioner of West Paris for 19 years.
As a young man, he was a member of the Maine Guard and when his sons were young he was a Boy Scout leader and a member of the West Paris Volunteer Fire Department. He had been in declining health for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years of West Paris; four sons, Douglas Coffin, and his wife, Sandra, of Auburn, Roger Coffin, and his companion, Holly, of Norway, William Coffin of Poland and Wayne Coffin, and his companion, Brenda, of Poland; two daughters, Laska Swan of Greenwood City and Wendy Chase, and her husband, Randy, of West Paris; two brothers, Fred Coffin of Waterford and Lawrence Coffin of Pinhook; one sister, Pattie Bean of South Paris; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his dog, Tyler; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by one son, David Coffin; one brother, Arthur Coffin Jr.; and one sister, Joan Davis.
