|Birth: ||Sep. 18, 1916|

Marie was born the daughter of Rose and Romeo Dyer. Marie passed on at Bay Square in Yarmouth.
She grew up in Waterville, and married Joseph Haines Clarke of Waterville in 1937.
She traveled frequently with her husband in their early years, as he was an officer in the Army, and they lived throughout the South and in Massachusetts before moving to Lewiston in 1947.
She was very active in the community, and especially loved her work at CMMC in the Woman's Hospital Association, where she was a member and volunteer in the coffee shop and gift shop for forty-five years.
She was an outstanding cook and hostess and entertained family and friends frequently, well into her 80s. She also loved painting, gardening and traveling.
She and her husband enjoyed many trips abroad, and spent part of their winters for almost 30 years in Longboat Key, Florida.
She adored her family, especially her grandaughters, who lived next door to her for many years and zoomed over to enjoy her wonderful blueberry muffins and playful spirit.
Her children, family and friends will always remember her amazing and positive affirming nature and appreciation of everyone around her.
We will think of her when we see incredible gardens, eat blueberry muffins, or smell the scent of cloves and cinnamon in the winter air. We will remember her unflagging compassion for others and we will try to bring her upbeat attitude into our own lives.
She is survived by her daughter, Margo Clarke Simmons; and son-in-law, Jack Simmons of Falmouth; two grandaughters, Jill Simmons of Pomfret, Conn., and Kimberly Simmons and her husband, Craig Bramley, of Cumberland, and two great-grandaughters, Grace Marie Bramley-Simmons and Katherine Rose Bramley-Simmons.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Haines Clarke, in 2003; her son, Joseph Haines Clarke Jr in 1998; and sisters, Nita Kay, Hildegarde Dyer, Harriet Thone, Betty Jeffries, Milicent Dyer; and brother, Joe Dyer.
There will be no services at her request. The family suggests that any memorial donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster St., Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101, or Chans Home Health and Hospice Care, 60 Baribeau Drive, Brunswick, ME 04011.
