Mr. Anderson was the oldest of four children of Plummer and Sarah Anderson of Taylor Town, Louisiana. He attended the Louisiana Parish Public Schools. On July 1, 1943, he married Bernice White. He joined the Calvary Baptist Church in Kilgore, Texas, and Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church in 1954.

Mr. Anderson was a lover of people and always enjoyed helping others. He was employed by Jerrell Pontiac in Kilgore, Texas, Lively-Olds Cadillac. He was the founder of Wanda's Pest Control and the first African American East Texas pest exterminator. He was one of the first African American professional boxers.
