Felix was born in Northern Ireland about 1795. He is said to have served ten years in the Prince of Wales Irish Regiment. He left a wife and a daughter, Bridget, in Ireland when he emigrated to Canada and from there to the U.S. When he sent for his wife and daughter to come to America, they could not be found. He received dispensation from his Priest to marry again. He married Betsy Palmer in 1831 in Marietta, Ohio and they had a daughter Sarah. In his will, Felix left a sum of money for his daughter Bridgit in Ireland, if she ever was to be found.
