Robert was one of ten children born of Orley E. Atnip and Eva Mae Davis Atnip. Robert died at the age of 19, from injuries he received at the Bollinger Bros. Machine Shop in Windfall, IN where he was employed. He is remembered lovingly as tall and slim, a gentle, soft-spoken young man who was very protective of his sisters.
