Services for J. Wade Jacobson, 78, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Glen Ellyn. Mr. Jacobson died Friday, April 14, 2006, following a long illness.
Born and raised in Kenosha, Wis., Wade graduated from Kenosha High School and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He married the former Edith McNeil of Kenosha in 1956. Settling in Glen Ellyn with his family in 1964, he lived there for 39 years, before moving to Wheaton in 2003.
Wade had a long and distinguished career in the transportation industry, ending as an independent consultant.
After his retirement from transportation in 1990, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of environmental protection and recovery by being employed for the next 12 years at the Great Lakes National Program Office of the EPA, where he worked to restore the Great Lakes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Church, 393 N. Main St. Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.
