Mr. Vaden was born April 1, 1930 in the Helm's Bend community of Smith County, TN., the son of the late Vera Pearl Armistead and William Edgar Vaden.
The youngest of ten children of whom three Sisters and five Brothers preceded him in death: June Gentry, Sadie Pope, Louise Gifford, Charles Vaden, Campbell Vaden, Melord Vaden, Roy Vaden and J. T. Vaden.
He started farming at an early age, having to quit school to help his daddy tend the family farm to make a living. Later he owned and operated Vaden Service Station in the old Waggoner building in South Carthage. After that he worked various jobs to support his family retiring from Smith County Coating in 1995. He was married to Alma Imogene "June" Gibbs on August 1, 1959. He was saved at the Caney Fork Missionary Baptist Church in 1947 at the age of 17 and had been a member since that time serving as Sunday School teacher, superintendant and was ordained as a Deacon on May 4, 1975 and served his Church faithfully until failing illness forced him to step down.
Survived by his wife of 50 years, June Gibbs Vaden of Hickman. Children: Donnie (Renia) Vaden of Chestnut Mound, TN.; Tim Vaden of Pea Ridge; Jeff (Rhonda) Vaden of Chestnut Mound and Darla Vaden of Hickman. Grandchildren: Brandon (Emily) Vaden, Brittany Vaden, Erin Vaden, Kayla Key and Jordan Key. Sister, Janie Mae Bush and Sister-in-Law, Estelle Vaden both of Gordonsville.
Mr. Vaden's remains are at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes where services will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Elders Charles Allen Gentry and Dennis Young officiating. Interment Smith County Memorial Gardens, Carthage, TN.
The Vaden family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Sunday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
