Double services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Northland Christian Church in Topeka for Rodney R. Bishop, 34, and Michelle Kay Bishop, 5, both of Baxter, Iowa. Both died Sunday, September 4, 1988. Mr. Bishop was killed in a two-car accident on K-116 east of Holton and Michelle Kay died at a Topeka hospital of injuries suffered in the same accident.
Mr. Bishop was a factory worker in the paint department of Plant No. 2 of Maytag at Newton, Iowa. He worked for Maytag 15 years. He served in the Air Force from 1976 to 1980 and since had served in the Air National Guard at Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born February 21, 1954, at Newton, Iowa, the son of Glen T. Bishop, Sr., and Carolyn L. Huffaker Bishop. He attended school at Ottumwa and Creston, both in Iowa, and at Holton. He moved to Baxter in 1973.
Mr. Bishop was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Baxter, Iowa, and United Appliance Workers Union.
He was married to Sandra K. Adams April 24, 1976, at Holton. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Michael Ray Bishop, at home; his mother, Carolyn L. Bishop, Newton, Iowa; his father, Glen T. Bishop Sr., Omaha, Nebraska; two brothers, Tim Bishop and Glen T. "Butch" Bishop Jr., both of Creston, Iowa; and a grandmother, Maude Huffaker, Baxter, Iowa.
Michelle Kay Bishop was born November 22, 1982 at Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Rodney R. and Sandra Kay Adams Bishop.
She was a kindergarten student at Baxter Community School and attended the Evangelical Free Church of Baxter.
Survivors include her mother, her brother, a grandmother, a grandfather, and a great-grandmother.
Double burial will be in Valencia Cemetery west of Topeka. Both will lie in state from 4 until 9 p.m. today at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka where relatives and friends will meet from 7 until 9 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Michael Ray Bishop Educational Fund and sent in care of Denison State Bank, 421 New York, Holton, 66436.
