Deputy Sheriff Mack Hall said Ferrell was jailed shortly after the shooting which occurred about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night. The shooting victim was admitted to the Baldwin County Hospital where her condition is listed as serious.
Hall said the investigation had shown that the incident occurred while the couple, recently separated, was seated in a car parked in front of the home of Mrs. Ferrell's Father, Frank Stevens, at the intersection of Allen Memorial Dr. and Irwinton Road.
The shot, fired from a 38 caliber pistol, entered the left side of the victim's face and came out on the right side at the temple, Deputy Sheriff Hall stated.
He said Ferrell was reported to have been drinking prior to entering into the argument with his wife, and that he told officers he didn't know why he shot her.
