Dr. Dell Foster
MARLIN - Dr. Dell K. Foster, 73, of Killeen, formerly of Marlin, died Thursday at a Killeen hospital.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Killeen, followed by services at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Adams Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Ken Andress and the Rev. Raymond Smith officiating.
Burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Dr. Foster was born Sept 20, 1909, in Marlin. He graduated from Marlin High School in 1927 and attended Texas A&M University for one year. He graduated in 1932 from the Baylor College of Dentistry, where he received the Key Medal for scholastic achievement and was a member of Zi Psi Phi fraternity. He was married to Maebelle Barganier in 1933. Dr. Foster worked for the Falls County draft board during World War II and practiced in Coolidge and Marlin until 1944, when he retired due to ill health. In 1959, he received the Order of Good Fellow from the Texas Dental Association. He moved to Killeen in 1960 and had lived at Bell Haven Nursing Center since 1970. In 1969, he was commissioned as an admiral in the Texas Navy, and in 1974 was elected to life membership in the Texas Dental Association and American Dental Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Killeen, having been baptized while in a wheelchair. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Louise Smith of Houston and Mrs. Maridelle Crake of Slydell, LA.; a sister Mrs. Elizabeth Brack of Marlin; and five grandchildren. The family has designated the National Parkinson Foundation, Bob Hope Road, Miami, Fla. 33136, for memorials.
