I arrived home from work one day late in May to a beautiful day. In the neighbors' back yard I heard a cat's meow. I went to the fence and saw a rather small black cat looking my direction. Since I had cats I went into the house and got some cat food and went back outside and told the cat if it would jump upon the fence I would gladly give it some food. It did. I picked it up and feed the kitty cat and discovered a cute little female with a white spot on her chest. Originally her coat was rather dull and she was extremely thin. After a short while her coat became shinny and bright and she gained some weight.
She was a happy girl with the cutest, happy bounce in her walk. She followed me like a puppy around the yard. If I would go in the front yard she would get on the porch behind a post so as not to be seen from the street. Going back to the back yard she would follow. She rarely left the back yard as that was her domain.
Her meow was extremely soft and she did not meow often.
Her favorite game was to poke at people as they walked by usually with her right front leg, but I think her greatest pleasure was to poke at the dog as he walked by.
Another game that always made me laugh was to jump on the back door screen and look into the house. She would hang there and twist her body in the most unusual ways. Ms. Elie, Eleanor (1993 -2008), would stand on her back legs from the inside and look at her as if asking "How do you do that?" (The door is a storm door which has glass on the inside.)
Byrdee was a petite, happy girl that will be missed.
