Roy Edward Watson Jr., 70, Jackson, Ga., and formerly of Sarasota, died March 17, 2003. He was born Aug. 19, 1932, in Campbell County, Ga., and lived in Sarasota from 1979 to 1999. He lived many years in Powder Springs, Ga., where he was a member of the city council and was a deacon at the Powder Springs First Baptist Church and member of the building committee. He was regional manager for Florida Mining and Materials Co. in Sarasota.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M.; his son, Barry E. of Venice; a daughter, Lori D. of Jackson; a brother, Eugene of Calhoun, Ga.; sisters Pauline Seay of Gainesville, Ga., and Pat Simpson of Mableton, Ga.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services and burial will be in Jackson, where Haisten Funeral Home is in charge.
